In many households, chicken nuggets can be a no-brainer way to get protein in for little ones and grownups alike. Perhaps especially if you’re serving nuggets to kiddos, you want to be aware of a Friday recall announced by a well known grocery chain.
Wegmans is a trusted grocer with a reported 111 locations in Atlantic states, including New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Virginia, North Carolina and Delaware. A January 24, 2025 announcement on the company’s product recalls page has advised that they’re recalling store-brand poultry nuggets—specifically Wegmans FYFGA Chicken Breast Nuggets in 46-ounce packages.
The reason for the recall according to the company is “Possible bone pieces,” which present safety concerns for obvious reasons, including but not limited to harm from choking and dental injuries.
Identifying product details as listed on the announcement are as follows:
- Wegmans FYFGA Chicken Breast Nuggets 46oz
- UPC: 0-77890-25210-9
- Best if Used By: 08/26/25
To remedy the situation, Wegmans says, “All product may be returned for a full refund.”
This comes months after an ongoing series of meat and poultry recalls starting last summer, affecting millions of pounds of food product, for issues largely involving microbial contamination concerns. Products at major grocery chains such as Kroger and Trader Joe’s, among many more, were affected.
Also this week, a recall was issued on more than 105,000 pounds of chicken that had been prepared in a commercial facility and distributed to a restaurant chain in Midwestern states and one in the South.
